Elzel / Müller: Land 2

The work Land II shows photographs of islands from the Venice lagoon. At first glance, these pictures taken in sunlight appear extremely idyllic. But on closer inspection, it becomes apparent that all the islands are deserted: The buildings are crumbling ruins, remnants of formerly large monasteries or abandoned settlements. Similar to the images from the series Archive Elzel / Müller, the appearance of documentary meticulousness is created: the pictures are accompanied by a map on the back of the frame, on which the name and position of the islands are marked with stamps.
